Ik'ta K'op Collective (Abasolo, Chiapas)

To Ik'ta K'op Collective ("word of the wind" or "the talk that is carried by the wind") is integrated by a group of young people from the Tseltal community of Abasolo, Chiapas. In 2017 they interweaved efforts with the Intrabach educational project that was already functioning as a local content network in the Abasolo Cobach and began the deployment of a community network to provide low-cost internet access and Yajnoptik intranet content free of charge.

Today the intranet is known as Jnoptik Intrabach and operates in 10 high schools, 10 elementary schools and one telesecundaria in communities in the state of Chiapas, as a portal created with free software to access tutorials, teaching materials, videos, documentaries, Wikipedia, Encarta and books for download. The diversity of content is available to anyone who connects from a phone or computer without requiring Internet access. In this web of efforts towards access to local content, in 2018 the collective also launched the Jitontik Community Radio in Abasolo.

Members of the Colectivo Ik'ta K'op, Jnoptik Intrabach and Radio Jitontik, have participated in the two generations of Community Techio and in spaces for training and dialogue in which their experience has inspired and accompanied other community intranets.

Xamoneta Collective (Cherán K'eri, Michoacán)

Xamoneta, which in P'urhépecha means echo, is a collective made up mainly of young women who seek to strengthen the process of defending the territory of Cherán K'eri through communication, memory and community organization.

In 2018, a comprehensive communication strategy was designed that contemplates the actions of different communication spaces and the exercise of autonomy, such as Radio Fogata y Kejtsitani Bonfire: Living Memory. The strategy embodied the dream of creating an intranet as a tool for safeguarding community memory and knowledge, creating and disseminating truthful information and an entertainment alternative.

In June 2019, the first intranet nodes were installed during the Abya Yala Community Networking Workshop. Currently, the members are being trained to manage the intranet together with other women from Mexico and Latin America in the Community Hackers group.

Union of Tosepan Cooperatives (San Antonio Rayon, Puebla)

In December 2019, the communities of the Sierra Norte de Puebla, grouped in the Assembly for the Defense of Territory and Life Plans, decided to work for energy sovereignty and technological autonomy in the region. Thus it was that, together with Radio Tosepan LimakxtumIn addition, the construction of a community intranet was started.

On that road, San Antonio Rayón, a community belonging to the auxiliary board of Jonotla, accepted the challenge through its local cooperative. With the support of Tosepan Limakxtum, the first steps were taken to create the dream.

In February 2020, the community hosted the first international camp of the Training Program for Indigenous Peoples of Latin America in Telecommunications and Broadcasting, organized by Redes A.C. and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), where, through training, the first nodes of the Nechikol Community Intranet, which in Spanish means organization, were installed.

From that date, the first steps for the creation of the Tosepan Limakxtum cooperative began. The first step was the construction of a space dedicated to the process, now completed, which is called Casa de Comunicaciones. Also, in 2022, together with TIC A.C., the first mobile virtual operator in Mexico and Latin America was inaugurated: Wiki Katat.

Wixárika Territory (Guadalupe Ocotán, Nayarit)

In Guadalupe Ocotán, a Wixárika community in Nayarit, the idea of a local network was born among the communicator Oscar Ukeme (https://wixarika.mx/) in the Community Techio training program.

In 2017, the community assembly decided to initiate a connectivity plan by testing a local content network. During 2018, with support from Altermundiworkshops were held for the design and mapping of the network, training in the installation of a local server and nodes to access content via Wi-Fi.

In 2020, in the face of the global Covid-19 pandemic situation, the server and network nodes began to function as a local educational content network for the children of the neighboring community of Tuxpan de Bolaños.

Multimedios Jënmë'ëny Santa María Tlahuitoltepec Mixe, Oaxaca

In dialogue with the Community Radio Ayuujk Jënpoj and the Audiovisual Collective Änk, made up of young people who graduated from the Bachelor's Degree in Communal Communication at the UNICEMThe creation of a network that would provide access to a local Jënmë'ëny platform, which would function as a Wi-Fi television with local programming, a community collection and productions that are part of the long road of community communication in Tlahuitoltepec, began to be explored.

In 2018, a workshop was held with the team of. CoAATV to make community television with free software. Since then, the Jënmë'ëny Multimedia Collective continues to produce audiovisual production and coverage of community events such as festivals and concerts in Tlahui and other communities in the Sierra Mixe, broadcasting live on Facebook and reaching audiences inside and outside the territory.

Pueblo Nuevo, Cauca, Colombia

In November 2019, we held a preliminary workshop in Pueblo Nuevo, Cauca, Colombia, where we defined the conditions, needs, problems and dreams of the territory through a meeting in which we built a joint map of the participating communities and how they imagined the network, what would be transmitted on the Intranet, who would have access and what were the points that would be connected based on the communication strategy.

This workshop was the basis for the birth, in 2020, of the community network with a comprehensive vision for a communication strategy for the strengthening of local knowledge and territory. Now the "Wind net". is one of the most recognized community networks in Colombia. and is sitting the basis for seeking a favorable regulatory environment for communities to be able to have their own Internet networks.
